Pioneer Music Orchestrates Dramatic Expansion

Lenexa, Kan. – CE distributor Pioneer Music Company (PMC) has completed a 12,000-square-foot addition here that triples its HQ footprint.

The new space, built next door to its original 6,000-square-foot facility, provides separate 12-volt and home A/V showrooms and additional conference/training rooms, while a larger, centralized shipping-and-receiving area will allow the family-owned business to ship most dealer customers in one day.

The showrooms are designed to provide dealers with a hands-on “mart-like” shopping experience, PMC said. Unboxed products displayed within the 1,000-square-foot 12-volt space, while complete home A/V solutions, including UHD TV and IoT-enabled products, are showcased within the 2,000-square-foot sister showroom.

PMC will also shift the majority of its shipping from its offsite facility in Chanute, Kansas, to the new distribution center, which will allow the company to better serve an independent dealer and custom integrator customer base that spans Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska and Southern Illinois.

“Our dealers are very excited about this,” said PMC president Dan Haight.

The 146-year-old business celebrated the expansion with an “Old Kansas City-Themed Rhythm and Brews” dealer sales event last month that drew more than 100 customers.  PMC raffled off a number of prizes including a Yamaha receiver, a Vivitek projector, an HD antenna from Antennas Direct, loudspeakers from Definitive Technology speakers, and a Niles 200W amplifier.

PMC is a member of Catalyst AV, a network of 12 independent CE distributors serving some 15,000 dealers and integrators.
