AVAD and Petra Industries took time out from business this month to raise awareness and support for the less fortunate.

Petra, through its 19th Annual Hope-In-One Charity Golf Tournament, collected $100,000 on behalf of the Whiz Kids of Oklahoma and Mercy Multiplied International. “Giving back to the community is one of the cornerstones of any successful business, and Hope-in-One is a great example of that,” said Petra president Tate Morgan, who thanked the more than 120 golfers, including vendors and customers, who helped raise the funds.

Meanwhile, CI distributor AVAD put out a plea to attendees of its annual Vendopalooza product showcase in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., to bring along urgently needed supplies for victims of Hurrricanes Irma and Maria in Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and elsewhere in the Carribean. Dealers were asked to bring canned goods, bottled water, blankets, first-aid supplies, clothes, gift cards, animal beds and crates, and monetary donations to support the relief efforts of the American Red Cross and the Humane Society of Puerto Rico.

“With the devastating events that have happened across this region within the last month, we were compelled to help out where we could,” said AVAD’s Seth Evenson, director, customer experience management. “Any donation, large or small, is welcome.”
