New Age Hosts Goo Goo Dolls At CES

Las Vegas — Alternative rock band Goo Goo Dolls will headline New Age Electronics’ annual CES Gala next week.

The Buffalo, N.Y., band, fronted by guitarist and lead singer John Rzeznik, is perhaps best known for its breakout ballad “Iris,” which ranked No. 1 on Billboard’s Top 100 Pop Songs chart covering the years 1992-2012.

The group joins a growing roster of acclaimed musical acts to perform at the New Age bashes, including former Eagles guitarist and songwriter Don Felder (2012), singer-songwriter Colbie Caillat (2013), and pop band The Fray (2014).

New Age, a national CE and IT distributor headed by president Fred Towns, holds the private event each year as a show of thanks to its retail customers and vendors. More than 500 invitation-only guests are expected to attend next week.

Towns, a music enthusiast and guitarist, has been known to join performers on stage, as he did during the company’s 2012 CES Gala when he accompanied Felder on acoustic guitar.
