National tech distributor New Age Electronics bestowed its annual Retailer of the Year award to BJ’s Wholesale Club in the brick-and-mortar category and Purchasing Power in the e-commerce channel.
Both were chosen for year-over-year revenue growth; close executive alignment; strategic partnership; sourcing of multiple brands; and a consistent positive credit standing, New Age said.
President Fred Towns described the honorees as strategic customers that “continue to deliver innovative new ways to market and sell products to consumers and exemplify the success that can be achieved in the consumer technology industry through a closely aligned distributor and retailer relationship.”

Specifically, BJ’s was recognized for its ability to grow its business with New Age in a highly competitive retail environment, and its ongoing commitment to evolving its business model to deliver a one-stop shopping experience built on value and selection, the distributor said.
“Families can find a range of the latest consumer electronics at BJ’s at a value that can’t be matched,” said Chris Desantis, general merchandise VP of the 214-store, East Coast warehouse club. “New Age Electronics has been a tremendous partner in helping BJ’s deliver the best assortment at the best prices to our members.”
Purchasing Power, which provides employee purchase and financial resource programs to large companies, associations and government agencies, was cited for finding new and innovative ways to market an expanding product portfolio to consumers through multiple platforms, and successfully evolving as the market and consumer shopping habits continue to change.
David Carlock, merchandising VP at Purchasing Power, said New Age has been “pivotal to driving the growth and success of our e-commerce platform,” and brings “great value to our business” by providing premium brands, emerging technologies, vast bundling solutions, and “flawless execution.”
The awards were presented during New Age’s annual CES customer appreciation event, held Wednesday night at the Paris Las Vegas’ Chateau Nightclub.
New Age will return to Las Vegas July 19-21 for its annual Retail Dealer Summit, which preps its retail and vendor partner for the back-half of the year and the all-important holiday selling season.
