Mega Wraps Up Orlando Convention

Mega Group USA closed the book on yet another convention for its buying group members.

The biannual convention, held March 11-14 at the Disney Dolphin Hotel and Resort in Orlando, Fla., was staged under the theme “Connect. Learn. Thrive.” It featured more than 100 members and vendors who began the event with a golf tournament and cocktails by the pool, moving on to workshops, presentations and training sessions the following day.

Mallory Parker, Mega business services executive VP, reviewed the Mega Finance Exchange, a service designed to help members find the right consumer finance program for every customer. Training director Doug Stewart, meanwhile, held workshops on leadership, while marketing and electronics executive VP Jim Sendrak reviewed the buying group’s available marketing and advertising programs.

A special Mattress University featured sessions on the in-store experience of selling bedding and bedding accessories, and a first-time Home Décor meeting was held by Surya and the Elk Group. Mega also held presentations on its new Levels 1-4 web marketing programs.

The convention wrapped up with onetime and limited deals from brands and suppliers.

Mega’s next convention will be held Aug. 21-24 in Nashville, Tenn.

Mega’s Rick Bellows, Hahn Appliance’s Lee Sherman, and Whirlpool’s Tom Arent and Mark Hecht
