Mega Group Gearing Up For Spring Show

Mega Group USA, the 1,700-member buying organization for independent furniture, bedding, appliance and CE dealers, will head to Orlando, Fla., March 11-14 for its biannual meeting and convention under the theme “Connect. Learn. Thrive.”

On tap at the Disney Dolphin Hotel and Resort, and underscoring the theme, is a full day of training and seminars and a two-day buying show featuring more than 100 vendors and service suppliers.

Special sessions will include Mattress University, where subjects will cover the in-store experience, sleep accessories and how to sell more beds, while Whirlpool, Electrolux, GE, Samsung and LG will hold product trainings for appliance dealers. Sessions will include product transitions, features and benefits, merchandising strategies, and how to maximize dealer profitability by category.

In addition, a new home décor workshop will be introduced focusing on how to sell high-margin decorative add-ons like rugs, lighting and wall art. Other breakout sessions will tackle such topics as leadership, industry trends across the multiple categories, marketing and business software.

Mega will also review its WebFronts Level 4 digital marketing strategy featuring exclusive, automated, and customizable turnkey promotions including email campaigns, dynamic landing pages, search and banner ads, and social media content.

Other highlights will include the “Mega Madness” buying session for limited-quantity show specials; a keynote on flawless execution from ex-fighter pilot and Afterburner founder/CEO James “Murph” Murphy; plus a golf outing, a poolside reception and time at Disney World.

“We are excited to have an enthusiastic speaker like Murph presenting unique business strategies to help our members energize their business,” said Jerry Honea, executive VP of Mega’s furniture and mattress division. Added president Rick Bellows, “We will have over 100 vendors using over 150,000 square feet of convention space.  Attendance is expected to be a record for the springtime convention.”

In a rare buying group convergence, Orlando is also hosting rival shows by BrandSource (Feb. 28-March 2) and Nationwide (March 13-16), for which exhibitors and their logistics teams are undoubtedly grateful.
