Not only will OnStar will be available in the aftermarket, Ingram Micro will be the master distributor of the line.
Ingram Micro’s consumer electronics division will be the master distributor for the new in-vehicle, retail OnStar line for cars already on the road.
OnStar’s new product will be made available via retailers including Best Buy in spring 2011, marking the company’s first foray into the retail market.
John Soumbasakis, strategic divisions senior VP for Ingram Micro, told TWICE that it was registering new retailers at International CES for OnStar’s Spring launch.
He said 15 retailers have been signed so far and that Ingram is looking to sign more. Additional retailers interested in selling the OnStar retail product and service can visit Ingram Micro’s OnStar website at

As the exclusive master distributor for OnStar, Ingram Micro is responsible for strategy, tactics and execution in a number of areas including distribution, logistics, merchandising support and other services such as installation and technical support.
Soumbasakis said, “OnStar’s technology provides an invaluable service to consumers and we are pleased to play such a strategic role within the company’s expansion efforts.”
Separately, Ingram Micro it has been selected as the exclusive U.S. distributor for Signeo USA’s new line of personal audio products — Soul by Ludacris, which will be available soon in U.S. retail and online e-tail stores.
The new brand of designer headphones was created in collaboration with the Grammy-winning artist Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, and will be supported exclusively by Ingram Micro’s CE division.
