Flat-panel TVs narrowly edged out digital cameras as the most sought-after CE products by shoppers.
According to the latest in-store consumer survey conducted for TWICE by El Segundo, Calif.-based Campaigners, fully one-fourth of CE shoppers plan to purchase a flat-panel TV this year, while 24 percent said they will buy a digital camera, and 17 percent intend to bring home a new notebook computer.
MP3 players, mobile phones and DVD players all elicited single-digit responses, likely due to product saturation.
