NEW YORK — Audio and accessories
sales are up, and pricing is stable —
especially for HDTVs — with demand
for TVs on the rise.
Those are among the pleasant surprises
several leading distributor executives
told TWICE in this virtual roundtable.
Manufacturers and retailers in recent
weeks have reported more positive CE
sales, something that distributors confirm in this report.
As anyone in the TV business can tell
you, stable pricing in the category is just
like a price increase, which always helps
the bottom line. And this year the promotional
activities surrounding 3D TV
are creating more traffic for retailers, if
not added sales.
The only problems discussed by distributors
were shortages of certain
HDTV SKUs and other items, and
the possible effects of a more aggressive
Walmart in CE.
