D&H Creates CE-Specific Website

HARRISBURG, PA. –

D&H Distributing is increasing its investment in its CE retail customers by adding new online navigation tools, incentive rewards and recycling opportunities.

The distributor has created a “Consumer Marketplace” icon on its website, which links to a dedicated section for the appliance, home entertainment, mobile, home office, home healthcare and specialized audio categories. D&H is supporting the Marketplace by steadily increasing the value of its incentives rewards program, which now boasts more than 120 vendor participants, and with new recycling and CE exchange opportunities.

Almo Goes Green

PHILADELPHIA –

A three-year-long “Going Green” program at Almo Corp. has dramatically reduced the CE and appliance distributor’s environmental impact and expenses. Specifically, new fluorescent lighting and occupancy sensors lowered company-wide energy consumption by 40 percent; paper and postage costs were cut by making 80 percent of all payments electronically; 100 percent of all printed materials utilize recycled paper and are produced at a green-certified printer; and 100 percent of all waste cardboard, electronics, paper, plastic and glass are now recycled.

The savings, across 1 million square feet of office and warehouse space and the millions of SKUs shipped annually, amounted to a 40 percent drop in related expenses, the company said.

Brightstar Acquires eSecuritel

MIAMI —

Brightstar has reached an agreement to acquire eSecuritel, a provider of insurance services for cellphone and wireless products, from Mainsail Partners. Brightstar said it plans to integrate eSecuritel’s handset protection and replacement services and propriety IT systems into its global services platform, and will keep the company headquartered in Alpharetta, Ga. The deal was expected to close by press time.

Capitol Debuts Satellite Payout Program

EAGAN, MINN. –

Capitol has launched a satellite payout program featuring professional marketing materials for Dish Network or DirecTV that can be distributed to customers. The materials include a toll-free phone number and a PIN number specific to each Capitol customer, which will enable them to receive a $75 commission on every sale resulting from their brochures or emails. Satellite sales, installation and service will be handled by Satellite Country, an authorized reseller for both the Dish and DirecTV.
