Ah, springtime, when a young man’s fancy turns to thoughts of basketball playoffs and Opening Day.
And with sports fans’ attention fixed on March Madness, the Masters Tournament and other seasonal sporting events, national CE and IT distributor D&H Distributing urges dealers to strike while the iron is hot with their largest HD displays and most immersive VR products.
According to the 99-year-old company, these high-profile sports competitions (along with a timely IRS refund) could help motivate shoppers to upgrade their current displays to high-value, big-screen models like Hisense’s H7B2 65-inch LED HDTV, whose AquoMotion technology provides sharp, clear images even during full-court kinetic action.
For an even more immersive experience, D&H suggests Philips’ 75-inch 6000 UHD 4K TV, which offers “a tremendous viewing area” and, like the Hisense model, allows media streaming from sports and entertainment networks.
Dealers can also drum up traffic with demos of cutting-edge entertainment, the distributor said, including new VR headsets like the Samsung Gear and Supersonic smartphone headsets, and gaming headsets like the Sony PlayStation VR unit.
Retailers and e-tailers can further capitalize on these trends by bundling VR equipment and gaming systems into spring TV packages, D&H noted.
“D&H is always looking to suggest new strategies for retailers that will attract customers to their floors,” said sales director John Alifano. “Leveraging branded, high-profile sporting events and sought-after technologies like virtual reality is a savvy recommendation, since these elements each carry a high ‘cool factor.’ Such immersive entertainment experiences can help motivate consumers and generate spring sales.”
D&H, based in Harrisburg, Pa., operates five regional distribution centers in the U.S. and Canada from which it supplies retailers, e-tailers, dealers and resellers a diverse product assortment spanning A/V, mobility, smart home, small office/home office, video surveillance, digital imaging, gaming, Cloud-based solutions, home and outdoors products, housewares, wearables, AR/VR and virtual-assistant solutions.
