Issaquah, Wash. – Costco reversed a nearly year-and-a-half-long stretch of soft CE sales last month.
The No. 1 warehouse club reported a low single-digit increase in category comps for July, albeit against easy year-ago comparisons.
Last year the chain reported a decline in CE comps, which were led lower by “softer sales” of TVs, cameras and computers.
Net sales for the four weeks ended Aug. 3 surged 9 percent, to $8.6 billion, while Costco’s total U.S. comps rose 5 percent (excluding gasoline), and store traffic increased 4 percent.
