CompUSA has opened its second and third Cozone stores in Arlington and Reston, Va. The openings follow the debut of the small format concept shop in San Diego in June.
In contrast to the company’s big-box superstores, the 6,000- to 7,000-square-foot units are small boutique shops that emphasize mobile products, digital cameras, portable DVDs and online services. They take their name from CompUSA’s now defunct e-commerce subsidiary, Cozone.com.
CompUSA president/CEO Hal Compton called the format an “attractive alternative” to its PC superstores. A fourth Cozone unit was planned to open in Southlake, Texas, later this fall.
