If sales associates are where the rubber meets the road in retail, expect BrandSource to leave tire tracks all across the Vegas Strip during the last week of August.
That’s when the buying group for independent appliance, CE and home-furnishings dealers will convene for its Annual Convention at Caesars Palace, albeit with a new retail twist.
For the first time, the BrandSource show will feature a Heavy Hitters Academy for retail sales staff, replete with specialized education sessions, comprehensive product training, a keynote by digital evangelist Erik Qualman, and an awards ceremony.
The scholarship-funded program, sponsored by Whirlpool, Serta Simmons, Electrolux, GE Appliances and LG Electronics, will offer more than 20 educational sessions in all, covering such topics as practical selling techniques, quality customer service through employee engagement, high-performance attitudes and aspiring leader qualities.
BrandSource will also hold a best practices roundtable that will address common business obstacles and better ways to market product, the group said, creating a forum where its Heavy Hitters can network and share business ideas.
“BrandSource is thrilled to be offering the innovative Heavy Hitters Academy to retail sales people this year,” said BrandSource CEO Jim Ristow. “We want to make sure our member sales teams are equipped with the best training and education possible so they have the best salesforce in the industry, not just today but in the future.”
BrandSource and its corporate entity Associated Volume Buyers (AVB) is a member-owned merchandising group with nearly 4,500 members operating more than 8,000 stores across North America. The organization will convene in Las Vegas, Aug. 26-29, and registration is still open.
