Black Friday Watch: Walmart.com Launching Deals Of The Day

Walmart has a target on Amazon.

In another element of its billion-dollar-a-year catch-up effort, the world’s largest retailer is mounting its own version of Amazon’s daily deals program online.

Starting today and running through the rest of the holiday season, Walmart.com is offering up 10 daily specials in tech, toys, home and other categories.

Its so-called “Season’s Best Online Specials,” posted here, will be different each day, and the promised “Cyber Monday-like prices” will be in effect for at least three months while supplies last.

Kicking off the initiative today are:

*a PlayStation 4 “Call Of Duty III” limited-edition bundle with “Madden” or “FIFA 16” for $429;

*an Xbox One 1TB “FIFA 16” limited-edition bundle with headset and controller for $399;

*a Nintendo 3DS handheld “Animal Crossing Happy Home Designer” bundle for $199 (from $219);

*an RCA 24-inch 1080p HDTV for $100 (from $180); and

*a Dell 15.6-inch Inspiron laptop with Intel Pentium N3540 processor for $288 (from $338).

Each of the deals also includes free shipping, as they exceed Walmart’s minimum $50 order amount for the service.

In contrast, retail rivals including Best Buy and Target are providing shipping at no cost on all online purchases regardless of ticket this holiday season, while archrival Amazon offers year-round two-day, same-day and Sunday delivery to members of its Prime loyalty program, depending on location.
