With Christmas little more than a week away, retailers are mounting a final round of pre-holiday promotions to grab their fair share of procrastinators.
Up for grabs, estimates hhgregg, are some 9 percent of Americans who haven’t even begun their Christmas shopping and another 32 percent who shop on Christmas Eve, a company poll found.
To lure them to its stores, the multiregional appliance, CE and furniture chain is offering a host of last-minute deals from Dec. 20-24, including:
*50 percent off a 43-inch LG 4K UHD smart TV with webOS, marked down to $550;
*47 percent off a 65-inch Samsung 1080p smart TV, reduced to $1,000; and
*and $440 off a Samsung 4.2-cubic-foot front-load washer and companion dryer, to $1,160 for the pair.
At Best Buy, merchants are leaving no stone unturned. Store hours are being extended to 11 p.m. this coming Friday, Saturday and Monday; thousands of online items have been made eligible, effective today, for free, expedited two-day shipping; and a whole lotta deals are being dealt. Among them:
*a 55-inch Samsung 4K UHD TV for $1,000, a savings of $600;
*a 43-inch Sharp smart 1080p LED TV with Roku for $350;
*$50 off all Xbox One consoles, plus free controller with purchase;
*$100 off all Apple Watch models;
*30 percent off a second audio speaker or headphone, any model; and
*an hour of Geek Squad in-home set-up and support for $100 or $150, depending on services rendered.
Sears too is extending its hours, with stores open from 8 a.m. to midnight tomorrow and Super Saturday. For cyber shoppers, it’s offering free two-day shipping on qualifying orders of $35 or more, down from a previous $49 minimum.
Sears’ “Shop Your Way” loyalty club members can also get an extra 20 percent off baskets of $50 or more, and they can select from such tech and white-goods deals as:
*$300 off Samsung’s 65-inch smart 1080p TV, model UN65J6200, to $1,000; and
*$410 off a 25-cubic-foot stainless steel Kenmore side-by-side refrigerator, to $1,000.
To further assist procrastinators, Sears has “taken the hassle out of last-minute holiday shopping — from letting you skip the lines with our five minutes guaranteed in-vehicle pickup, to shopping inside our store for great deals and free shipping from our mobile app,” said recently appointed president Joelle Maher.
