AuctionDrop Collecting CE For CARE

AuctionDrop, which collects and sells consumers’ wares on eBay, has donated its services to raise funds for tsunami survivors.

The company is soliciting donations of used and new CE products, including cameras and computers, which it will sell on eBay. All of the net proceeds from the sales will be donated to CARE’s Earthquake and Tsunami Relief and Rehabilitation Fund.

Following the company’s regular business model, donors can drop off their contributions at any of the 3,700 UPS stores around the country for shipment to AuctionDrop’s centralized processing center. (The CARE fundraising code to enter on the UPS form is 00198.) Donated items will be photographed and listed for sale on eBay. Once sold, AuctionDrop will issue a check to CARE, while all unsold items will be donated to The Salvation Army.

The online auction house will absorb the cost of packing, shipping, processing and eBay fees by waiving its standard commission on sales.

“We all want to help the victims. That’s why we’ve opened up our organization to aid in the relief effort,” said AuctionDrop’s CEO Randy Adams. Added Thomas Reynolds, regional director, CARE, “AuctionDrop offers an incredible chance to be a part of CARE’s disaster response simply by donating electronic equipment that you no longer use every day.”
