Looking to score one of those Amazon Lightning Deals this holiday season? Better get the app.
For the first time, Amazon will offer more than 150 Lightning Deals available only through its Amazon Mobile Shopping app (viewable on the App Only Deals tab). These will begin at 6 p.m. ET on Thanksgiving and will run through Wednesday, Dec. 9. A “Watch A Deal” feature enables consumers to receive notifications on their mobile devices when a selected deal has gone live.
The e-tailer is also kicking off its Eight Days of Deals this Friday. Beginning Nov. 20, Amazon will offer a series of Lightning Deals on Amazon.com/BlackFriday, with offers added as frequently as every five minutes, it said. It will also offer 10 Deals of the Day starting at midnight on Thanksgiving and up to 10 more on Black Friday.
Prime members receive early access (30 minutes) to the majority of these Lightning Deals.

In other Amazon news, the e-tailer announced it’s opening two fulfillment centers in Obetz and Etna, Ohio, both just outside of Columbus. They are expected to bring more than 2,000 jobs to the region, Amazon said, and will expedite shipping times in the Buckeye State.
The Etna location will be more than 800,000 square feet, while the Obetz location will be more than 1 million, and brings the number of Amazon distribution centers up to nearly 60 in the U.S.
