Seattle – Amazon.com has formally launched a vast menu of outsourced home services that includes home theater installation, IT support, and CE and majap product repairs.
The company’s new Amazon Home Services marketplace offers more than 700 pre-priced jobs provided by thousands of vetted installers, servicers and craftsmen and guaranteed by the e-tailer.
Categories include appliance repair and installation; basic home theater and streaming media set-up; mobile phone repair; IT support; game console set-up; and car audio installation.
Services also extend to lawn, garden, home improvement and other handyman-type tasks, as well as music, voice, language, Yoga and math instruction.
ZIP Code-based queries at the Home Services store generate a range of prices by a host of invitation-only local providers who are background checked and insured. Amazon guarantees their work and maintains verified user reviews to help customers make a selection. Services can be purchased and scheduled directly on the site.
The program is available in major U.S. metro areas including New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle, and addresses the more than 85 million customers who shop on Amazon for products that require professional services.
Amazon says the site currently features about 2.4 million unique service offers across the country.
