ZTE USA has teamed with T-Mobile to enter the connected wearables category in the U.S. with its ZTE Quartz smartwatch.
ZTE, the fourth largest smartphone supplier in the U.S. and second largest in the no-contract market, said the new watch includes cellular, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, is powered by Google Android Wear 2.0 and the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 platform, and can make calls, send texts, share on social media, run navigation apps and stream music without being tethered to a smart phone.
It will become available on TMobile.com beginning Fri. April 14 and in select T-Mobile stores beginning Fri., April 21 for a retail price of $192. It boasts a 500mAH battery, interchangeable wriss bands and customizable watch faces, and it is iP67 rated for weather and dust protection. It has a 1.4-inch AMOLED display protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass.
