Yamaha’s All-In-One Soundbar Tagged At $200

Yamaha announced its new all-in-one soundbar, the ultra-slim YAS-106.

The soundbar provides a virtual surround-sound experience from Dolby Digital and DTS multichannel soundtracks through its dual onboard built-in subwoofers, twin bass reflex ports and Advanced Bass Extension Processing for surround playback.

HDMI 2.0 input and output feature HDMI CEC technology so the remote control that comes with an HDMI/CEC-equipped TV can be used to control the soundbar’s on/off and volume functions. The HDMI ports support true 7.1-or 5.1-channel audio signals.

Additionally, the soundbar can be controlled wirelessly via Bluetooth from Android and Apple mobile devices running the Yamaha Home Theater Controller app.

Yamaha Clear Voice raises dialogue levels in the YAS-106 to ensure audibility despite background audio.

“The YAS-106 provides signature Yamaha audio quality with simplified setup in an easy-to-use, décorfriendly package at an unbeatable price,” said Bob Goedken, general manager, A/V division, Yamaha Corporation of America. “With the inclusion of Bluetooth streaming, the YAS-106 delivers even more bang for the buck by doubling as a compact, great-sounding music system that connects wirelessly from a smartphone or tablet.”

The YAS-106 is 35 inches wide and stands less than 3 inches.

A separate powered subwoofer can be connected to the soundbar’s subwoofer output if even more bass is desired.

The Yamaha YAS-106 will be available in mid-August with a $199.95 retail.
