Wolf Cinema upgraded four of its existing home theater projectors with more advanced HDMI connections, SMPTE 2084/2086 high dynamic range (HDR) capability, DCI-P3 wide color gamut, and higher peak brightness levels.
With 18Gbps Ultra HD HDMI 2.0 inputs and HDCP 2.2 copy protection, the four models provide for “complete compatibility” with all forthcoming Ultra HD [4K] consumer video content, including 4K60 4:4:4 sources and copy-protected sources such as 4K Blu-ray players, 4K streamers, and other 4K sources, the company said.
The four projectors, ranging from at $8,000 to $22,000, are the SDC-8, SDC-10, SDC-12 and SDC-15, all built on sixth-generation three-chip D-ILA light engines. All sport a 30 percent increase in peak white levels over previous editions to about 1900 ANSI lumens, and black levels go deeper to up to a 1,500,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio.
Separately, the company developed two flagship ensembles that mate the SDC-12 and SDC-15 projectors with a custom outboard ProScaler MK IV video processor to offer more features and more processing power to deliver improved imaging on screens up to 14 feet in width. The ensembles offers an expanded CMS calibration suite, advanced noise reduction algorithms, multiple HDMI 2.0 inputs and outputs, and the company’s E-VariScope technology, which eliminates black bars at the top and bottom of the screen when using ultra-wide 2.35:1 CinemaScope screens, the company said.
The company will demo the SDC-15 at Venetian suite 29-103 at CES. The company sells only through custom-integration specialists.
