WirelessHD Group Cites Product Gains

WirelessHD technology appeared in products from Panasonic, LG Electronics, Sony, Gefen and Monster Cable here at the CEDIA Expo, and more WirelessHD products will appear this year with Best Buy’s planned launch of a private-label WirelessHD adapter kit, the WirelessHD Consortium said.

WirelessHD sends uncompressed HD video up to 33 feet away with a resolution of up to 1080p at 60Hz to TV displays from cable boxes, Blu-ray players and other video sources connected to a WirelessHD transmitter, which can be placed away from a flat-panel TV in a less conspicuous place.

Here at the show, LG showed LH85 and LHX LCD TVs with built-in WirelessHD receivers, and Panasonic showed its Z1 plasma TV series with WirelessHD technology. For their part, Gefen and Monster Cable showed WirelessHD transmitter/receiver adapters.

Sony Bravia HD LCD TVs with the technology are XBR 10 models in the 46-inch and 52-inch screen sizes. They ship in October at prices to be announced.

These products will be joined soon by a WirelessHD adapter set from Best Buy under its private-label Rocketfish brand, the consortium said.

Consortium members include Best Buy, Broadcom ,Intel, LG, Monster Cable, Panasonic, NEC, Philips, Samsung, SiBEAM, Sony and Toshiba.
