Kwikset’s SmartCode 916 touchscreen electronic deadbolt at around $249 features a capacitive touchscreen to enter numeric codes for keyless entry. The touchscreen senses every touch immediately for ultra-fast code entry, and it auto-detects a correct code to immediately unlock. A dedicated lock button allows for fast one-touch locking.
Embedded wireless Home Connect technology (in Z-Wave and ZigBee versions of the deadbolt) integrates the device wirelessly with other home-automation products such as security and home entertainment systems.
The SmartCode Touch holds up to 30 user codes and features dramatically reduced interior size for increased aesthetic appeal, a Master Code option allowing users to prevent user codes from being added to or deleted from the lock, and Secure Screen, which prevents guessing a user’s code by smudge marks on the touchscreen that indicate frequently used numbers.
