Westinghouse Ups 1080p Line

Westinghouse Digital showcased at International CES two series of 1080p LCD HDTVs — the VK and TX Series — among a broad range of new LCD TVs on tap for 2008.

Models in both 1080p series feature the company’s Full Color Spectrum and High Contrast Picture systems, which are said to produce deeper blacks and richer dark scene details by dynamically matching the brightness of the TV backlight to that of the onscreen image.

An advanced calibration menu is included for advanced adjustments, while preset video modes offer a selection of customized settings for movies, games and sports.

Both lines also include Westinghouse Digital’s SpineDesign intelligent cable access, DayBright panel technology for optimal daytime or nighttime viewing and Autosource technology that automatically adjusts the set to address the incoming signal source.

Both the dual HDMI and component video inputs on the sets support 1080p signals.

VK series models include the 40-inch VK-40F530S, (ships in March at a $1,099 suggested retail), the 42-inch VK-42F130S and VK-42F240S (both ship in March at $1,149 each) and the 47-inch VK-47F130S (March, $1,499).

All include built-in ATSC/NTSC/QAM tuning, 6.5 ms response times, dual HDMI inputs and Energy Star compliance.

The TX Series models include the 42-inch TX-42450S (March, $1,199), the 47-inch TX-47F450S (March, $1,599) and the 52-inch TX-52F480S (March, $2,499).

All include built-in ATSC/NTSC/QAM tuning, 5,000:1 dynamic contrast ratios, and four HDMI inputs.

In 720p LCD TV, Westinghouse Digital showed its SK Series, featuring the 26-, 32- and 40-inch screen sizes.

All are designed for multi-room placement, and include SpineDesign intelligent cable access, DayBright panel technology for optimized daytime or nighttime viewing and autosource technology.

In addition, Westinghouse Digital offers the SK Series models in 26, 32 and 40 inches, each featuring a built-in front-loading DVD player.

In portable LCD TV, Westinghouse Digital will show its PT Series models, including the 16- and 19-inch screen sizes, which targeted at placement in small rooms, such as bathrooms, dorms, or kitchens.

The 16-inch PT-16H610S (April, $299) is a flip style 1,366 by 768 HD model with touch-sensitive controls and dual hinge bezel to allow the screen to move up and down and back and forth.
