Irvine, Calif. — Vizio kicked off a back-to-school success contest on Tuesday in which college students are encouraged to share their stories of determination in furthering their education.
The contest is open to students across the country and requires participants to upload a video or photo essay detailing a personal story of determination in pursuit of a college education that underscores for Vizio why they should win the grand prize.
The winning prize package includes a 40-inch E-series smart TV, a Vizio 2.1 Sound Stand that is suitable for dorm room applications, a one-year Spotify Premium music subscription, $1,000 toward tuition, $1,000 toward books, and “to be able to help Vizio give back to a local Boys & Girls Club in their college town.”
The company explained that the winner will have the opportunity to help Vizio present a donation to a charity in their college town.
A local Boys & Girls Club in the grand-prize-winning submitter’s college town will be rewarded with a 40-inch E-series smart TV, a 21-inch 2.1 Sound Stand to be placed in a common area, and a $2,000 donation of school supplies including markers, crayons, pens, paper, scissors and more.
In addition, 11 runner-ups will receive $100 toward school supplies and a six-month Spotify Premium subscription.
Entries will be accepted through Aug. 19. Consumers are invited to help determine the winner by voting for their favorite story Aug. 20-27.
Vizio said the contest will help recognize hard work this school year.
“Vizio knows college isn’t easy, and there are many students across the country who have endured hardships, but have continued to persevere to further their education,” said Lily Knowles, Vizio product marketing VP. “We’re excited to reward a deserving student with much-needed funds to help out with their books and tuition, plus a Vizio TV and Sound Stand to upgrade their dorm room.”
In addition, members of the Vizio Fandemonium program can earn points by submitting their own stories and voting for their favorite submissions.
