Triad Slims Down Subs, Widens Install Options

Portland, Ore. — Triad Speakers has begun offering its first home subwoofer that’s slim enough to be placed behind or under a sofa.

The company also launched its first on-wall subwoofer.

The InRoom and OnWall Bronze SlimSubs, modeled on the company’s InWall Bronze/4 SlimSub, are priced at a suggested retail of $1,500 each, including 350-watt outboard amplifier.

The InRoom an OnWall Bronze SlimSubs measure 14 inches by 19.5 inches by 4.4 inches. Because of its dimensions, the in-room model can be placed horizontally or vertically on the floor. The OnWall Bronze SlimSub, which is the company’s first on-wall subwoofer, can be placed horizontally or vertically on the wall.

Standing upright, the in-room sub is 4.4 inches deep and “takes up almost no floor space,” said marketing director Paul Teixeira. “When laid down, requiring just 5.1 inches of height clearance, it becomes a down-firing subwoofer that can be hidden under furniture.”

The on-wall version, sticking out 4.4 inches from the wall, will complement installations featuring ultra-flat TVs and soundbars via Triad’s EZ Mount brackets, he said. The on-wall model is available in custom colors.

Both subs feature long-throw 10-inch aluminum driver, maximum output of 108dB from 40Hz to 80Hz, and bass extension of -3dB at 28Hz. When multiple models are used in an installation, the subs “achieve deep, powerful and accurate bass over large listening areas,” Teixeira said.

Each SlimSub is shipping and comes with a 10-year limited warranty.
