Portland, Ore. – Triad Speakers will go to the CEDIA Expo with its first Dolby Atmos-enabled in-room LR-H speaker, which will ship in the fourth quarter at a suggested $1,000 each.
The Bronze LR-H speaker features a D’Appolito design with a front-firing 1-inch fabric-dome neodymium tweeter positioned between two front-firing 5.5-inch woofers. The speaker also incorporates a Dolby-enabled height channel consisting of an up-firing array of drivers on top to bounce height-channel sound off the ceiling. The up-firing drivers consist of four 2-inch full-range neodymium drivers.
Individual Bronze speakers can be used for the left and right front channels and for the left and right surround channels.
The speaker will be available in a variety of colors and finishes, including custom paint and custom veneers to match a room’s décor.
The speaker will be displayed at Triad booth 448. Dolby booth 180 will host two Atmos demonstrations incorporating Triad speakers. One demo will feature four Bronze speakers, and the other will use four Triad in-ceiling Bronze/8 speakers to deliver the height channels.
“Somewhat to our surprise, in testing our speakers we have found that the built-in height channel — which reflects off the ceiling — performs better in some applications than using dedicated ceiling speakers for the height channel,” said Triad president Larry Pexton.
The Bronze speaker measures 7.6 by 19.5 by 9.25 inches and delivers a frequency range of 88Hz-20kHz (+/-3dB). Recommended amp power is 50-200 watts. Nominal impedance is 4 ohms, and sensitivity is rated at 89dB (2.83v, 1m).
