Toshiba Storage Device Division will showcase its highest-capacity portable external hard drive at CES.
The USB 2.0 portable external hard drive is based on a 2.5-inch hard-drive platform and can store either 91,000 images, 84,000 MP3 files or 142 hours of DVD quality and 37 hours of HD video.
“Data backup is integral in a digital world — it isn’t just for technology geeks; it’s for anyone who wants added insurance that first birthday photos, summer vacation videos, their latest tax returns and other important digital data are protected against computer failure or other emergencies,” said Maciek Brzeski, vice marketing VP, Toshiba SDD. “To create mass appeal, we’ve introduced a new design that looks great on the desktop, yet still offers the simple, no-fuss operation for anyone to use. With 320GB of capacity, it’s the perfect companion for preserving treasured digital memories and important data.”
These latest Toshiba drives also feature a new design that the company said is about 20 percent smaller then previous models.
The device is bundled with NTI Shadow backup software and will be available in the Spring with a $199 suggested retail.
