Toshiba’s new Portege A605 12.1-inch notebook, based upon its business-oriented Portege R500 ultraportable laptop, is now available to consumers at a starting price of $1,399.
It features a silver aluminum enclosure, weighs 3.3 pounds, measures 1.18 inches thick and is said to offer more than six hours of battery life. Despite its thin profile, the device still features a built-in optical drive.
Its integrated USB sleep-and-charge ports allow the user to charge other devices through the notebook, even when the computer is turned off.
Other features include an Intel Centrino 2 Duo processor, 3GB of RAM and a 250GB hard drive. It is also Energy Star 4.0 compliant.
The device was designed with EasyGuard Technology, a series of hardware and software enhancements that Toshiba said can better protect and secure one’s laptop. Components include HDD Protection, a spill-resistant keyboard and a fingerprint reader.
The Portege A605 comes with a one-year standard limited warranty.
