Sure To Debut Universal Remote App With Voice Command Capability At Mobile World Congress

Sure Universal, which markets a smartphone-based universal remote app, has added Amazon’s Alexa voice control to its capabilities.

The company will debut the updated app at the Mobile World Congress later this week in Shanghai.

Once linked to an Amazon Alexa account, users will have full remote control, from inside or outside the house, over smart-home devices such as thermostats, ACs and lighting via voice commands. Inside the house, the app can control any wireless protocol in common use, ranging from specialized smart-home RF technologies to common mediums like Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and even legacy IR devices, the company said.

Future versions app will also include support for Google Home and Apple Homekit, making the Sure Universal Remote app the only smartphone app to control any wirelessly connected device, according to the company.

The app launches this week for Android devices and can be downloaded from the Google Play Store. An iOS version with Alexa support will be available in September.
