Sprint is offering an unusual incentive for consumers: PokeCoins.
The wireless carrier said it will give anyone who signs up for its Sprint Unlimited service $100 in PokeCoins, which is the equivalent of 14,500 PokeCoins. The Pokemon Go currency can be exchanged for to 3,600 Poké Balls, 480 Max Revives, 145 Premium Raid Passes or 96 Incubators, according to the company.
Sprint is the official U.S. wireless partner of Pokemon Go. Its stores are PokeStops and gyms, and consumers are encouraged to visit them to engage with the game.
New subscribers are being offered an even larger, somewhat more traditional, incentive: Consumers who switch to Sprint can receive four lines of unlimited data, talk and text for $25 per month per line and a fifth line free. This promotional pricing will extend until Jan. 31, 2019, after which the consumer will be charged $60/month for the first line, $40/month for the second, and $30/month per line for the third through fifth lines.
Speeds will be slowed to 2G after 10GB is used during the month.
Activations must be done in a Sprint store.
