Sinope’s Sedna Provides Stand-Alone Leak Detection

Hub built directly into the valve

Sinopé Technologies is now selling a smart water-leak protection system that doesn’t require a seperate gateway and will operate even during a power failure.

The Sedna system has built the hub, which is both Wi-Fi and ZigBee compatible, into the valve rather than having it communicate with a separate device. The system will send an email or text alert when one of the detectors senses water as low as 0.015 inch, and the valve will then shut off the main water supply.

Users are also informed of frost risks and when the devices’ batteries are low, and the accompanying iOS and Android apps enable remote control of the valve.

A Starter Kit with one valve and five detectors is currently available for $394. Users also have the ability to add additional sensors.
