Sherwood Bows 1st LCD-TV Line

Sherwood America introduced at CES the first television line in the company’s 50 year history.

Sherwood is starting its TV venture with three widescreen LCD TV models, highlighted by the TL-3200W (shipping in June at a $3,199.95 suggested retail). The 32W-inch HDTV-ready 16:9 LCD TV monitor uses a high-performance LCD panel sourced from LG/Philips. It is powered by a Pixelworks engine.

Features include picture-in-picture and picture-out-of-picture modes, 3/2 pulldown with film detection, and a 181-channel NTSC tuner. The viewing angle is rated at 176 degrees both horizontally and vertically.

The LCD TV also features an integrated Sherwood digital sound system with 2-way speakers and 40 watts RMS power.

The company is currently shipping two 17W-inch monitors, including the TL-1705W ($1,099.95 suggested retail). The 16:9 panel includes the same features as the TL-3200W but substitutes a 20-watt RMS audio system. Images are displayed at 1280×768 HD resolution, supported by the Pixelworks scaling system. Inputs include HD component video.

The third model in the line-up is the entry-level TL-1700W, which accepts signal inputs up to 480p display format level. The TL-1700W uses the same LG/Philips panel as the TL-1705W and offers on-screen menus. The TL-1700W will be available in June and has a suggested retail of $799.95.
