Sharp is now shipping its AX-700S superheated steam oven, which is built upon a unique technology that combines heat, steam and superheated steam to bring the health benefits of steam cooking to a wider variety of foods that are typically roasted, grilled or baked in traditional ovens.
“Steam cooking is one of the healthiest ways to prepare food, and superheated steam takes it one step further,” said Joy Daniel, product development associate director for Sharp’s appliance group. Indeed, the superheated steam drains away fat from foods, while preserving vitamins and minerals, and the heat setting allows for browning and crisping.
The AX-700S has a compact countertop footprint and is equipped with preprogrammed cooking settings that automatically determine time, temperature and an optimal mix of heat, steam and superheated steam for foods in four categories: roast, grill, steam and convenience foods.
The unit, available in stainless steel and red, carries a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $1,400.
