Sharp Adds 19” 768p Aquos TV, D43 Series At CEDIA Expo

DENVER — Having just unveiled its new D64 entry 1080p Aquos LCD TV line, Sharp is using CEDIA Expo 2007 to unveil a new line of 768p Aquos sets and the company’s first 19-inch 768p SKU.

The new Aquos D43U Series will
include the 52-, 46- and 42-inch screen sizes, all of which offer 1366 by 768p resolution, Sharp’s Advanced Super Video LCD panel, a 7,500:1 dynamic contrast ratio and Quick Shoot video circuitry for a 6ms response time and 176-degree viewing angle.

Styling includes a piano black finish with fixed bottom speakers and a detachable table stand for wall-mounting flexibility.

LC-52D43U, LC-46D43U and LC-42D43U are available now at suggested retails of $2,999, $2,099 and $1,799, respectively.

The company is also showing its first 16:9 768p LCD TV with a 19-inch screen size. The TV will be positioned for smaller or secondary television-watching spaces including kitchens and bedrooms, and features an unusual remote with a built-in clock/timer and a magnetic back for placement on metallic surfaces. The timer function provides a countdown for use in kitchens when cooking or in the bedroom to catch program.

The LC-19D44U, which will ship in October at a $649 suggested retail, also includes HDMI and PC inputs, and a 400:1 contrast ratio.

Last month Sharp unveiled its new entry 1080p LCD TV line that features slim-depth and -width bezels and a reduced footprint to fit into more cabinet spaces.

The new models are part of the D64 series, which will replace the current D62 series, and include the 42-, 46-, 52- and 65-inch screen sizes. All have new cabinet designs that measure 3.75 inches deep, or 25 percent slimmer than models in the D62 series, which they will replace. Models are also 20 percent lighter than last year.

The line also includes more connectivity options than the previous line. Side controls and three side terminal inputs — HDMI v1.3, component and composite — were added for easier wall-mounting options.

The dynamic contrast ratio is 10,000:1, response time is rated at 4ms, and the viewing angle is 176 degrees.

The 42- ($2,099 suggested retail), 46- ($2,699) and 52-inch ($3,799) models will all ship to Aquos-authorized dealers in September. The 65-inch model will follow later at a price to be announced.
