Sanyo Bows New HD Flash Camcorder

Sanyo will ship a new HD video camera to dealers at the end of October.

The Xacti HD700 records 720p video or 7-megapixel still images to SDHC cards.

It features a 5x optical zoom, a 2.7-inch flip-out LCD screen, and records video in the MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 format. According to Sanyo, an 8GB SDHC card can store two hours and 46 minutes worth of HD video.

The camcorder ships with a docking station with an HDMI output for connecting to HDTVs.

The HD700 features a 1.3-second start up time, a “talking navigation” audible menu, macro focusing to 1cm, digital stabilization and in-camera editing.

Still camera features include “face chaser” for finding and focusing on up to 12 faces and light sensitivities to ISO 3200.

The camera will ship with a copy of Adobe Premiere Elements 3 for Windows users. The camera itself is also Mac compatible.
