Dallas – Samsung Telecommunications America is rolling out its first movie-theater commercial promoting its free Milk Music streaming service.
Milk Music powered by Slacker is available as an app download for users of Samsung Galaxy smartphones and tablets. Compatible phones are the S5, S4, SIII, Note 3, Note II, Mega and S4 Mini across all carriers. The Tab S, Note Pro, Tab Pro and Galaxy Note 10.1 – 2014 Edition are also compatible.
More than 2 million Milk apps have been downloaded since the service’s launch earlier this year. The service is ad-free for a limited time.
The “Put Your Spin On It” ad launches in cinemas on July 4 and features such top artists as John Legend, Iggy Azalea with Charli XCX, Lady Antebellum, Chromeo, Childish Gambino, Cold War Kids and Little Dragon. The spot plays off the app’s dial interface, which consumers use to dial through more than 200 stations and 13 million songs.
In the ad, a life-sized dial turns and lands on a different musical genre. One of the featured artists then appears and performs a hit song.
Featured songs include Childish Gambino’s “3005” Rock, Cold War Kids’ “All This Could be Yours,” Chromeo’s “Come Alive,” Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy,” Lady Antebellum’s “Long Stretch of Love,” John Legend’s “You & I,” and Little Dragon’s “Klapp Klapp.”
