Samsung is developing a phablet with an OLED display that turns a tablet-size 7-inch screen into a 5-inch smartphone screen when folded, a Korean news outlet reported.
The development could help spark renewed growth in the smartphone market, whose growth has slowed significantly.
ET News reported that Samsung is preparing for second-half mass production of the display, followed by a 2017 rollout of the phablet.
Earlier this year at 2016 CES, LG demonstrated the world’s first 18-inch rollable display, also OLED.
