Ridgefield Park, N.J. --  Samsung teamed with Turner Sports and the PGA of America to offer an interactive Ryder Cup app for Samsung Smart TVs and Android mobile devices.

The Ryder Cup TV App, available today for download on select 2013 and 2014 Samsung Smart TVs, lets users complement their viewing of Scotland’s Ryder Cup on NBC or the Golf Channel. Consumers, for example, will be able to toggle between different live video feeds, launch an interactive leaderboard, and keep tabs on specific golfers, all though windows appearing on the TV screen. Viewers will also be able to access course information through virtual hole flyovers.

With the app’s multiscreen capabilities, viewers can pair a TV and an Android mobile device via a companion Android app to watch live feeds and exclusive Ryder Cup app content on a tablet or smartphone. Viewers can also cast interactive content from the mobile device onto any 2013 or 2014 Samsung Smart TV.

In addition, viewers can also use the app to shop for official merchandise, including Team USA uniforms, from the Samsung Smart TV and complete the purchase using a mobile device or PC.

The companion mobile app is available for any Android devices, but Samsung mobile devices will deliver some exclusive video content that won’t be available from other-brand mobile devices, a Samsung spokesman noted.
