Tempe, Ariz. — Rockford has been awarded a patent for its CLEAN level-setting technology, which is available in Rockford Fosgate Punch and Power autosound amplifiers.
CLEAN (Calibrated Level Eliminates Audible Noise) technology helps installers correctly match the voltage output of a vehicle’s head unit to an aftermarket amplifier to optimize power output.
“With the ability of CLEAN to indicate the audio source’s maximum [gain] capability, the feature serves to quickly and easily answer the question, ‘Where do I set my gain?’” said David Baker, electrical engineering director for Rockford Corp.
CLEAN uses onboard input/output clipping indicators that help installers precisely tune the amplifier’s gain setting to maximize output before clipping occurs. Three indicators (blue, blue/red, red) on the amplifier’s top-mount control board monitor the exact point at which the ideal signal and power are being utilized, he said.
