MSI Launches Wireless Inventory Device

BEVERLY HILLS, CALIF. — Merchandise Support (MSI) has launched OnTheSpot, a real-time, wireless reporting system utilizing a handheld device that provides the fastest in-store reporting capability in the industry. The system was developed based on a request by Eastman Kodak Company to create and implement a faster method of communication between its merchandising management team and MSI’s field representatives.

Designed as an instantaneous two-way communication tool, the real-time system allows immediate feedback of time-sensitive retail information. The traditional reporting method took up to 24 hours to input and another 24 hours to receive and implement a response. MSI’s creative new handheld solution enables field representatives to report directly from the retail store, allowing information to be captured instantly. Once captured, the manufacturer can review and respond to issues, within minutes if required. This complete solution gives MSI the ability to rapidly mobilize and deliver retail information nationwide. Currently in its second quarter of successful execution, the program also allows national issues to be discussed and addressed among field representatives using the handheld devices’ e-mail system.
