eero Signal Aims To Reduce Home Internet Downtime

4G LTE backup launches at $99.99, with 5G model planned for 2026

Amazon-owned mesh networking brand eero has introduced a new way for customers to stay online during broadband outages. Called eero Signal 4G LTE, the device is designed to provide automatic cellular backup for an entire eero home network when a primary internet connection goes down.

Now available in the U.S. for $99.99 through Amazon and eero’s website, the hardware connects to a compatible eero router and switches the network to a 4G LTE connection if service is interrupted. Rather than supporting just a single device, the company says the backup applies to the full eero mesh system, keeping connected products—such as security cameras, video doorbells, streaming devices, and laptops—online during an outage.

“eero Signal provides dedicated cellular backup connectivity for your entire eero network, not just a few devices,” the company said in its announcement. The switchover happens automatically, and once a home’s primary broadband service is restored, the unit returns to standby mode.

Setup is handled through the eero app. The device plugs into any USB-C-powered eero model that supports Wi-Fi 6 or newer standards, and placement is key: eero recommends positioning it in a room with strong cellular reception, ideally higher up and near an exterior wall.

The hardware requires an eero Plus subscription for backup data. An annual eero Plus plan includes up to 10GB of cellular data per year, aimed at shorter outages. New annual subscribers who purchase the device receive six months of service included; after that, the plan renews at $99.99 per year.

For heavier use, the eero Plus 100 tier includes up to 100GB of backup data per month. It is currently offered at $99 for the first year, renewing at $199.99 annually. In addition to backup connectivity, eero Plus includes online security tools, parental controls, and identity protection services.

A 5G version of the hardware is slated for release later in 2026 at $199.99, adding compatibility with 5G networks while maintaining 4G LTE support. Both versions are intended for single-location backup use and require an existing primary internet connection.

eero Signal carries a three-year warranty and supports automatic software updates.
