Like A Pro: Polaroid’s New 3D Pen Isn’t Just For Kids

Coretech Printer Group introduced a new Polaroid-branded 3D printer pen geared toward pros.

Created with artists, designers, engineers and other professionals in mind, the Polaroid 3D Design pen features an ergonomic design, an internal cooling fan to reduce jamming during prolonged use, six speed presets, an OLED LCD screen, and the ability to adjust the temperature.

It can be used with a range of materials, including standard PLA filament in neon, wood and metal. The auto shut-off feature puts the pen into standby mode after four minutes of inactive use, and ejecting the filament before going into full sleep mode, according to the company.

The pen, which is available in black, Erbium Gray, Slate Gray and Tuscan Sun Gold, is slated to ship in July for a $179 suggested retail. Coretech, a Polaroid licensee, is currently offering the device as a pre-order on Indiegogo for bundles starting at $130.
