Pioneer Bows Augmented-Reality Ads

Consumers can interact with the print ads using their smartphones.

Long Beach, Calif. — Pioneer Electronics said it’s rolling out an augmented-reality ad campaign to support its car electronics category.

The “See What You’ve Been Missing” campaign will be coupled with the Pioneer AR Experience iOS and Android app, enabling users to interact with print advertisements by pointing the phone at the ad and engaging with the hot spots, Pioneer said.

Consumers will be able to swipe the screen to switch among four in-dash receivers: the AppRadio 3 smartphone receiver, the AVIC-Z150BH navigation receiver, the AVH-X8500BHS multimedia DVD receiver, and the DEH-X8500BH CD receiver.  They can also learn more about features and technologies by touching different areas of each featured Pioneer product, the company said.  

The ads will appear in a number of publications, including TWICE.

Consumers can download the app from by texting “Pioneer” to 271262.
