Philips-Brand Roku TVs Coming Soon From Funai

Roku also reveals Black Friday discounts

Roku is adding another TV manufacturer to its licensing belt: Funai Electric.

A maker of the Philips brand, Funai will launch a line of smart TVs using the Roku OS this year, offering one-step access to the streaming platform. Other TV brands featuring the Roku OS built in include TCL, Hisense, RCA, Sharp, Hitachi and Insignia.

Roku also announced Black Friday pricing for its Streaming Stick+: From Wednesday, Nov. 22, at 9:01 p.m. PST through to midnight PST on Monday, Nov. 27, the Roku Streaming Stick+ will carry a $49.99 MSRP.

This is a $20 discount from the regular $69.99 price set when the unit was first available in early October. At the promo price, it becomes the least expensive 4K/Ultra HD streamer product on the market, making it an attractive add-on to 4K/Ultra HD set sales.

Its Wi-Fi antenna circuit embedded in the connection cable is said to improve wireless reception, particularly given the “behind-the-set” installation location.

Also during Black Friday weekend, the Roku Express+, available exclusively through Walmart, will see rollback price discounts.

As a further incentive, with the purchase of any Roku player product or Roku TV consumers will receive a free month of DirecTV Now service with a new subscription.
