Denver – Ricoh Imaging is celebrating the 75th anniversary of Pentax binoculars with a lineup consisting of 34 new high-quality Sports Optics models, each with new features, technology and enhanced performance.
The product lineup is divided into four defined categories:
Z series: binoculars with premium level quality and clarity;
S series: roof and porro-prism models with large objective lenses for contrast-rich, bright viewing under all light conditions:
A series: compact, portable and durable designs, for convenience and high quality viewing; and
U-series: compact porro-prism models with a durable dual-axis, single body design and aspherical lens elements for edge-to-edge sharpness.
Ricoh said each binocular includes advances in optical precision. All have fully multi-coated optics to reduce and prevent flare and ghosting.
To add to the durability of the Z- and S-series waterproof binoculars, Pentax has added a protective coating that
helps deflect water, oil, dust and dirt.
Other optical technologies include:
* BaK4 prisms: perfectly round exit pupil for clear, unvignetted imaging.
* Waterproofing: fully sealed and purged with laboratory grade nitrogen fog proofing. With a JIS Class 6 rating, Pentax’s waterproof binoculars can be submerged in up to 3 feet of water.
* Long eye relief: All Pentax Sport Optics allow seeing the entire field of view clearly and effortlessly, with particular benefits to eyeglass wearers.
* Inner Focus Optics Design: a sophisticated optical design ideal for waterproof models requiring an airtight body construction, and compact size and weight.
Suggested retails range from $50 to $1,200. The complete lineup will be available in March and will be presented at the SHOT Show Jan. 20-23 in Las Vegas, in Ricoh Imaging booth 16324.
