Peel Users Pass 25M Mark

Mountain View, Calif. – Remote control and interactive TV app developer Peel said it has surpassed 25 million registered users worldwide and forecasts that number will top 50 million by yearend.

Peel said it counted more than 300 million monthly TV tune-ins and 1.1 billion TV recommendations, making it “the world’s largest multi-source TV recommendation, tune-in and companion platform.”

“We have forever changed the TV remote control experience so people can now easily access and interact with their favorite shows,” said Bala Krishnan, Peel founder and chief product officer. “In the last quarter we had over 10 million new consumers using Peel and over half the new Android phones sold in the U.S. have Peel preloaded on them. We are now on track to power 20 percent of the world’s TV tune-ins by late 2013.”

A new Peel study is now available including TV viewership statistics, such as the top tuned-in TV shows and networks, as well as data from Peel’s interactive show feature, which projects user sentiment for programs.

Available on Android and iOS smartphone and tablet devices, Peel acts as a universal TV remote control, eliminating the need for multiple remotes and static TV grid listings. Peel enable discover and interact with TV shows, preview content, send and receive TV recommendations, receive notifications on your favorite shows and major TV events and even interact with friends, family and fans of your favorite shows in real time.
