Panasonic has launched an online store called Panasonic Select Direct that is accessible at store.panasonic.com or through a direct link from www.panasonic.com.
The store is designed to sell Panasonic products “that are sometimes hard to find on retail shelves,” such as computer peripherals, CE accessories and personal care products, such as groomers, trimmers, oral-care items, and others.
The new online operation is said to enable consumers to easily locate the nearest “brick & mortar” dealer. It also has direct links to the company’s online service for ordering parts, the company said.
Panasonic has been selling accessories through its Web site this year. The last word on Panasonic’s e-commerce policy came from parent company Matsushita Electric Industrial last month (TWICE, Oct. 25). Kirk Nakamura, president of its AVC Company and senior managing director, commented, “We are still in an experimental stage in setting an e-commerce policy.”
