PAC Adds All-In-One GM Interface

Tampa Bay, Fla. – Pacific Accessories (PAC) has developed an OEM-integration module that simplifies the installation of aftermarket head units in GM vehicles.

The module does this while retaining all factory safety, convenience and communications system functions, including OnStar and steering-wheel audio controls.

The $229-suggested RP5-GM31 integration module replaces multiple integration modules often required to install head units in GM vehicles with 29-bit LAN databus systems, said PAC owner Aamp of America. Unlike other one-box solutions, the PAC kit is preprogrammed and ready to use out of the box, it said. Competing products, the company explained, must be connected to an online web updating interface before installation.

Aamp engineering VP Brett Riggs said the kit provides “quicker and easier installations, less confusion about what integration modules to use, lower overall costs and easier inventory management.”

The RP5-GM31 facilitates head-unit installs in select 2006 to 2013 GM vehicles, excluding full-sized SUVs, that use the 29-bit GM LAN databus system, PAC said. The kit is compatible with OEM amplified and non-amplified audio systems and retains all functions of OnStar systems, factory Bose sound systems, factory XM Radio, lane-departure warning systems, turn-by-turn navigation, Bluetooth and factory-installed rear-seat video systems, the company said. The RP5-GM31also retains steering wheel controls and backup sensors and warning chimes.
